The funniest thing about being a teen

Is that that you're always feeling caught between 

Moving forward and stepping back,

The excitement of the future and the safety of the past.

You're scared to move ahead

For the fear of the unknown,

So you do nothing instead,

Let life pass by like so:

After an hour of hitting the "snooze"

You finally give in and lose

You crawl reluctantly out of bed,

Your mind buzzing with dread

Your motivation is unknown

You're confused, you're tired, you're lost,

So you follow the status quo

But you're never your own boss.

You can't understand your ways,

How can you spend every single day

Putting blood and tears and sweat

Into something you don't want to get?

You're doing this for someone else,

Your parents? Your teachers? Your friends?

Why let your life pass by?

When there are so many things to taste and try...

So lighten up your load

Explore your interests and you'll know

What makes YOU happy and smile

Because passion is the key to life.
